🎁 Minute sharing

Share minutes with the people you love

Dehay lets you send call minutes from your own balance to any other Dehay user — a parent who never tops up, a child studying abroad, a cousin who has run out mid-week. The minutes land instantly, there is no fee, and they can call home straight away.

A shared minute is a real minute: worth $0.20 of credit — one full minute of calling to Eritrea — and spendable on any destination Dehay calls.

Why families use it

Most diaspora families already pool money for calls home; minute sharing just removes the friction. One person tops up with a card or mobile money and shares minutes to everyone else — no card details to collect, no top-up flow to explain to a parent, no waiting. Because a shared minute is always worth one minute of calling to Eritrea, it reads like airtime rather than an abstract balance.

Shares are final once confirmed, so Dehay shows the recipient's name before you send. Both of you get an in-app notification, and an email if you have one on file.

Frequently asked questions

What is minute sharing on Dehay?

Minute sharing lets you send call minutes from your own balance to another Dehay user. It's the simplest way to make sure a parent, a child studying abroad or a relative who has run out of credit can keep calling home — no card details on their side, no top-up to explain.

Who can I share minutes with?

Any Dehay user. Pick them from your contacts in the app; if they don't have Dehay yet, invite them to download it first.

Does sharing minutes cost anything?

No. There is no fee, and minutes move at full value: the minutes you send are the minutes they receive.

What is a shared minute worth?

One full minute of calling to Eritrea — $0.20 of credit. The recipient can spend it on any destination Dehay calls; for cheaper destinations it stretches further, for pricier ones it covers less than a minute.

How fast do the minutes arrive?

Instantly. Both of you get an in-app notification, and an email if you have one on file. The recipient can call straight away.

Can I cancel a share?

No. Shares are final once you confirm, so double-check the recipient's name before sending.

Do shared minutes expire?

No. Like all Dehay credit, shared minutes stay in the recipient's balance until they are used.
